Our Quilt of the Month Winner for October is Norma Welch of Hot Springs. Norma made a quilt using 1930's reproduction prints and had it custom-quilted with block designs and a separate border design. Congratulations Norma!

Our Quilt of the Month winner for Septemeber is Marge Vorisek. She made a beautiful Purple and Green Quilt using 21/2 inch strips. She was nominated and chosen out of a random drawing and will receive a free quilting on her next quilt!

Fall Session Quilting Class...Success!

All the students of the fall quilting class at Fabric Creations have either completed their Queen size Bargello Quilts or have made great strides in that direction. Congratulations to Linda McAdo of Simms, AR for being the first one finished. She chose to make a stunning black and white bargello bordering with black and grey.

Sandy Lesh of Mt. Ida, AR chose colors of peach and orange and browns. Sandy has a great eye for color and is all finished except for borders.

Johnnie Watson of Glenwood, AR is a beginning quilter who was definitely up for the challenge of the bargello. Her quilt is made of beautiful lavender and purples. Great job Mrs. Johnnie!

Karla Ledbetter of Glenwood, AR is also a beginner. She chose reds, blacks, and whites with a Razorback twist for the borders. Karla has made great progress considering she has no sewing machine at home. We are all hoping Santa decides to bring her one for Christmas.

Thanks so much to Yvonne Edwards for being such and encouraging leader and showing us her tried and true Bargello methods!

I. Assemble quilt top in sections as shown on page 3 of instrustions.
A. Side Panel
B. center Panel
C. Border

II. If enlarging quilt, add extra strip sections to sides and top before sewing on
the outer border.

Spring Quilting Class 2010

Lesson 2

I. Cutting(Lesson 2)
A. Strips for Segments
B. Cream Print (cut 2-1/2" Strips x Width of Fabric)
C. Various Prints (cut 2-1/2" strips x WOF)

II. Assemble the strip segments
A. Choose 3 different print fabric strips and sew together
with a cream print in between each print fabric.
B. Make 2 segments

III.Sub-cut the segments
A. Press all segments in the same direction on each strip segment.
B. Cut each strip into 8-1/2" sections. (Should get 4
or 5 sub-cuts with each strip segment.)

A Children's Christmas

Fabric Creations is hosting a Baby Quilt Contest! All quilt tops submitted will be machine quilted by Fabric Creations and donated to:

Arkansas Children's Hospital-Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Quilt tops will be judged according to:

1. Creativity and design

2. Overall Eye Appeal

3. Workmanship

Submissions accepted now through December 12, 2009

Contest Rules:

* Quilt tops must measure 36" x 54"

* At least one fabric used to piece the top must be purchased at Fabric Creations,

as well as the backing for the quilt.

* 1/4" seam allowances throughout

* Quilting Donated by Fabric Creations

*Winners of the Three categories will each receive the following prizes:

1. Creativity & Design

Rotary Cutter, Cutting Mat & Ruler set along with a $40 gift certificate to Fabric Creations

2. Overall Eye Appeal

Thread box containing 28 spools of Mettler Premium sewing thread along with a $40 gift certificate to Fabric Creations.

3. Workmanship

Basket of misc. quilting supplies, including gingher sewing scissors, along with a $40 gift certificate to Fabric Creations.

Quartz, Quiltz & Craftz

Come see us at the Quartz, Quiltz & Craftz Festival in Mt. Ida, Arkansas, on October 9,10,11.
we will be hosting a booth at the Quilt show located on the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. Come see our fabrics, crafts, baby gifts & of course quilts. Be prepared to take home some jelly rolls & charm paks. We'll be posting pictures after the festivities so be sure to check back for updates!
